School Behaviour Support and Management Plan (SBSMP)
At Tomerong Public School, our School Behaviour Support and Management Plan (SBSMP) reflects a whole-school approach to fostering a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
Our plan incorporates a multi-tiered system of care to support all students, with a focus on:
- Prevention and Early Intervention: Promoting high expectations for behaviour and providing targeted and individualised support as needed.
- Teaching and Reinforcement of Positive Behaviours: Explicitly teaching and recognising safe, inclusive, and respectful behaviours to support student wellbeing.
- Addressing Disruptive Behaviours: Implementing effective strategies to prevent and respond to disruptive behaviours, including bullying and cyberbullying, when they occur.
We work closely with parents and carers, in line with the School Community Charter, to collaboratively develop and implement strategies that support student behaviour and wellbeing.
The SBSMP is regularly reviewed in consultation with our school community to ensure it remains effective and relevant to the needs of our students and families.
Through this plan, we aim to create a thriving school environment where every student feels valued and supported to achieve their best.
Visit the NSW Department of Education’s policy library for all current operational policies.
Attendance and absences
Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.
In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent and remain in school, employment or training until they turn 17.

School frameworks (school rules)
As well as following the department’s operational policies, we have developed frameworks for our students in line with our school’s values and commitments.
Rules and policies are in place to make sure your child remains safe and well at school.
Our school uses the department's School Community Charter to ensure all of our communication is collaborative and respectful.
