As you know, regular school attendance is crucial to ensure your child/children has the maximum opportunity to learn and develop friendships. Being on time for school sets your child up for learning. They have time to catch up with friends before class which in turn allows them time to prepare themselves for class. It is amazing how quickly time lost due to arriving late or leaving early, by even 10 minutes, can mount up. Over a year a student may have missed the equivalent of at least four days of schooling due to being late for school. Therefore, I ask parents and carers to please ensure, where possible, all appointments are made out of school time to maximise your child's learning time.
An explanation note is required for ALL student absences which should be given to your child's teacher on their return to school. Explanations should be received within seven days, after which, the absence is deemed unjustified by the Department of Education and Communities. Should your child be away for an extended period of time due to sickness a doctors certificate should accompany the absentee note on your child's return to school. Absentee booklets are available for your convenience from the office waiting room.
